For future projects we are looking for a

Junior Soil Scientist

who can contribute to the development of our knowledge base in the field of sustainable soil management (fertilization, soil quality, water) and carbon sequestration. You will be involved in leading sustainable land use projects in Europe and Africa.

We offer a dynamic working environment where you quickly gain a lot of practical experience, take responsibility and develop new (international) contacts. In addition to project work, you are jointly responsible for the development of new knowledge and products and you represent our company on forums and meetings.

Biomass Research is a dynamic research and consultancy firm dedicated to the development, analysis and evaluation of production chains for bioenergy and the bioeconomy. We focus on the assessment and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, quantification of sustainable land use (including indirect land use change of iLUC, food vs fuel), sustainable fertilization, nitrogen emissions, innovation and certification.

We highly value quantitative research. Our customers are governments, supranational organizations (European Commission, FAO, International Energy Agency), companies and NGOs. At Biomass Research we combine a scientific basis with a pragmatic approach, an energetic attitude and a clear analytical view.

What we are looking for

  • BMC /MSC degree in soil science (agricultural or environmental degree with a strong soil profile)
  • Professional attitude; you are flexible, stress resistant, take responsibility, and you function well within a small, dynamic team
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in food security and agriculture; understanding of international agricultural development issues and approaches
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Full professional proficiency in English. Knowledge of Dutch and French is an advantage
  • Willingness to travel

What we offer

Biomass Research offers a dynamic international work environment and good supervision. You will be initially be appointed for three months with an optuion far an extension. It is a full-time position; however a 0.8 appointment is negotiable. The office is based in Wageningen, but you may partially work from home.

Candidates should have permission to work in The Netherlands.
